We are hosting a book drive all through March, collecting teen books to give to the Children’s Hospital Colorado. This came about as an idea from teens at Smokey Hill Library. A teen’s sibling was hospitalized there and that teen noticed the paucity of YA books, & what they did have was in very poor condition. This led to the book drive; all books donated will go to the Teen Lounge at the hospital. We’re asking for new or VERY gently used teen books, appropriate for ages 11-17.
We will have collection boxes located in the library. If you can share this with your students I would really appreciate the help! As anyone knows if you have spent time in a hospital, the hours are sometimes long and frustrating. Having a good book to read for patients is a really cool way for teens to help!!!
