Welcome to Special Education

I am excited to be a part of the Deer Trail School team.  I am here to support you and your child with any educational needs that you may feel that your child needs.  Please feel free to contact me with any of these issues even if your student is not enrolled in Special Education.  Title I services provide your child with interventions in a particular area that he/she may be struggling with in the general ed classroom.  Special Ed services provide students with an Individualized Educational Program (IEP).  If a student is struggling academically, the school or teacher may recommend the Rti process.  As a parent you will receive a letter from the Rti team.  Interventions will be put into place to help the student get caught up.  If the student does not make progress, Special Ed testing could be done with your approval to see if your child would benefit from an IEP.  Special Ed is also in place for students with emotional/behavioral issues.  If a student’s behavior is interfering with his/her education, Special Ed may be beneficial for that student.
